Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Vladimirovich Mishustin arrived in Hanoi on January 14 for a two-day official visit at the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
The Russian delegation was welcomed by key Vietnamese officials, including Minister Tran Van Son and Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang. PM Mishustin is joined by Deputy PMs Alexey Overchuk and Dmitry Chernyshenko, along with several ministers and officials.
This visit, Mishustin’s first to Vietnam, underscores efforts to strengthen the Vietnam-Russia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. It reflects the mutual commitment of both nations to fostering their traditional friendship and enhancing cooperation in various fields. Vietnam is a priority in Russia’s “Look East” policy, while Vietnam consistently values Russia as a key partner in its foreign policy.
The visit aims to deepen the bilateral relationship, making it more intensive, substantive, and effective. Leaders will discuss key issues, reach agreements, and define strategic orientations to expand cooperation. Areas of focus include economy, trade, energy, science and technology, education, culture, and defense-security.
Additionally, the visit provides an opportunity to address obstacles in bilateral cooperation and assess progress on major joint projects, particularly in energy and industry. The two sides will explore new areas of potential collaboration, creating momentum to further bolster their partnership.
This visit reaffirms the strong commitment of both countries to maintaining and advancing their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, reflecting their shared determination to achieve practical outcomes in their cooperation and to prepare for significant future activities.
