Vietnam’s Prime Minister, Pham Minh Chinh, has set an ambitious vision for the country to become a major economic, trade, and investment hub in Southeast Asia by 2030. Speaking at a dialogue with European businesses, he outlined Vietnam’s potential for growth, highlighting its large population, strategic geographical location, and strong economic foundation. The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of continuous reforms and modernization of regulations to make Vietnam an attractive investment destination.

Vietnam’s economic growth has been supported by an improvement in its business climate, with regulatory reforms that have bolstered the confidence of international investors. These reforms, along with efforts to streamline business processes, have helped position Vietnam as a competitive player in the global market. European businesses, in particular, have shown significant interest in Vietnam, with over $30 billion in investments already made by European companies. A recent survey found that 75% of European businesses recommended Vietnam as one of their top investment destinations.

In his address, Chinh also urged European companies to deepen their investments in Vietnam, calling for further collaboration in sectors like green energy, digital transformation, and innovation. He pointed out that Vietnam is actively seeking to develop a digital economy and transition towards green energy sources, with the potential to significantly benefit from these shifts in global trends.

The Prime Minister’s message was clear: Vietnam aims to leverage its strengths and continue its path of economic reform to become an even more influential economic hub in Southeast Asia by the end of the decade. This strategy will require ongoing foreign investment, innovation, and sustainable development, all of which are integral to realizing Vietnam’s vision for the future.
