According to data released by the General Statistics Office on January 6, in December 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods reached 70.53 billion USD, up 6.2% over the previous month and up 15.9% over the same period last year.
In the whole year of 2024, the total import and export turnover of goods reached 786.29 billion USD, up 15.4% over the previous year, of which exports increased by 14.3%; imports increased by 16.7%. The trade balance of goods had a surplus of 24.77 billion USD.
In 2024, there were 37 items with an export turnover of over 1 billion USD, accounting for 94.3% of the total export turnover (there were 8 items with export turnover of over 10 billion USD, accounting for 69.0%).
Regarding the structure of export goods in 2024, the preliminary group of fuel and mineral goods will reach 4.24 billion USD, accounting for 1.0%; the group of processed industrial goods will reach 356.74 billion USD, accounting for 88.0%; the group of agricultural and forestry products will reach 34.51 billion USD, accounting for 8.5%; the group of aquatic products will reach 10.04 billion USD, accounting for 2.5%.

Regarding the import and export market of goods in 2024, the United States will be Vietnam’s largest export market with a turnover of 119.6 billion USD. China will be Vietnam’s largest import market with a turnover of 144.3 billion USD.
In 2024, the trade surplus to the United States will reach 104.6 billion USD, up 25.6% over the previous year; the trade surplus to the EU will reach 35.4 billion USD, up 23.2%; Trade surplus with Japan was 3.2 billion USD, up 91.9%; trade deficit with China was 83.7 billion USD, up 69.5%; trade deficit with South Korea was 30.7 billion USD, up 5.9%; trade deficit with ASEAN was 9.9 billion USD, up 18.9%.
